Now I'm not sure if it will work with 812; 812 was long ago.

Yeah, I know :oops: But this system works so well and I've put so much effort into it to shape it my way that starting over is far from enticing :mrgreen:

I updated successfully Python3 from 3.6 to 3.11 (following jamesbond 's masterful instructions :thumbup: ).

However, I can't find the way to make pip3 to work ( ModuleNotFoundError: No module named '_posixsubprocess' ). Pip (not pip3) on the other hand, works (obviously) fine.

Reason is I need to ...

I know about dofsck as a kernel's command line parameter. Problem is, I needed to check FD64 partition ( sda1 in my case) on purpose.
Long story short, I commented the line " rm /etc/booted " in /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown and rebooted. The system partition was checked and errors found (as I suspected ...

Slimjet 34 works for me flawlessly. However, newer versions gave me problems with YT videos. Don't know why (despite brand new profile and different pc).
Like geo_c , amethyst and others, I tried browsers a lot.
FF, though praised by others, is not my cup of tea.
Palemoon is what I liked most of FF ...

it seems this way. I moved the files to /home/spot - and was able to see them (only after dragging the folder onto the window, to create a New Bookmark).

No particular reason for that specific version apart from the fact I was trying to make it run. I pointed it out to be "in the same page" with anyone who could eventually assist me.

Had the same problem with Rustdesk, many reports of this on the web

Anydesk was very problematic to install. Just use Rustdesk instead.

Thanks @mistfire ! It almost worked in my system (for some reason, it failed to recognize my X server as X11... 'cause it is). A quite promising project! :thumbup2:

It was a nice try. Now if I try to run Anydesk as root, this error appears:
"sh: lsb_release: command not found
double free or corruption (fasttop)".

And if I use run-as-spot:

To compile this, libmozjs-52.so must be compiled first (I installed libmozjs185 from repositories and no luck) and for that, JS-52.2.1gnome1 is needed, which can't be compiled either in my 4GB notebook ...

since puppy linux only requires 128 mb RAM does that mean it uses less RAM than a command line interface?

I still use Opera 12.16 as my mail client. I couldn't find anything simpler, smaller and more useful.
Pale Moon 28.17 32bit in my DpupBuster 64bit as my primary browser (it uses significantly less ram than its 64bit counterpart).
And Waterfox is at hand for those "quirky" sites here and there :D
