Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

the downside is that you can't unplug the flash drive you're live booting from That is a feature that some people want to have. Just read a post, of someone exactly wanting to be able to unplug the USB stick booting BookwormPup64 from. The save is on the internal drive. If they unplug it. Reporting...

There has been resent posts about removing the ability to remove a USB drive you are booting from. Still needing the drive plugged in to get stuff from. All of Puppy is no longer going to be completely loaded into memory. Not sure, but BookwormPup64 may now be using this new change to booting proces...

Re: Failed to load savefile on boot. Significance?

I chose to boot from /mnt/nvme0n1p4, but fossapup is loading a file from /mnt/nvme0n1p3. First time you booted this install on nvme0n1p4. Did you do a shutdown or reboot and make a save for it? When asked, made that drive the location to put the save on? If you are going to have Fossapup64 9.5 inst...

If the save file is stored on a partition formatted fat32. The max size a save file can be is 4GB. That is the max file size for fat32 format. You can keep from putting everything in the save file. Documents, videos, downloads, pictures, etc.... can be placed at locations outside of the save. /mnt/h...

Re: how to set up puppy from debian as dual-boot?

:welcome: To Puppy Linux well it really depends on the other operating system you want to dual boot with. In general the method is to first install whatever the other operating system(OS) is. Then do a frugal install of Puppy Linux.(frugal is the name it is still the complete Puppy OS) Then you need...

Re: How can I set up a swap file, since I was not allowed to do it?

I thought programs were supposed to vacate themselves from memory when they shut down? Should do that! Key word should! You say you are running in RAM mode, so Puppy has to use a save ramdisk to store anything that changes. The save ramdisk is only going to use more and more RAM. Unless you ...

A simple: see signature, makes sure we understand what Puppy version. But you would be surprised how many people make posts and the ...

Re: How can I set up a swap file, since I was not allowed to do it?

My laptop was up and running for over 40 days, Most likely there is some program you have running, that has a memory leak, and even a swap file is not going to stop this. Even if you shutdown running a web browser. It could still be set to keep running something in the background. If you are not us...

In terminal: pupswap is program to make swap file. Puppy looks for a specific name for it, so use this program. Have you tried doing this ? You can put it anyplace. However, very important that you defragment hard drive before making a swap file on a (Windows) Fat or NTFS formatted partition. You co...

It is going to be impossible to give you info on multiple issues in a single topic. It will quickly turn into a big mess of posts, that will be hard to follow and to understand, what worked or did not work. So make a topic only talking about one specific issue. Getting too deep in the weeds. Again the statement on the Puppy Linux section needs to be general type info. Not the technical how it does it. What it can do not how it does it. Puppy Linux is yet another Linux distribution. What's different here is that Puppy is extraordinarily small, yet quite ful...

Usually when this happens. The icon theme being used in the Puppy version, does not have the full set of icons. The icons that Pale Moon is wanting to use are not there for it to use. Icon themes, provided with a Puppy version, need to always be a full set of icons. I will assume you have GTK icons ...

What specific Nvidia driver package?

Have you tried in a terminal?

That should update the menu.

Every Nvidia driver package from them, I have used, has also installed the Nvidia x server settings program.

It should be in menu ->Setup

Suggest broadening this to include DVD, SSD and HDD.

Also SD cards.
I boot from SD card installs on several computers.
As long as computer can boot from a SD card, it works.

If using the setup programs that are in menu ->Setup are not providing the setup changes you need.
