Re: NVIDIA_SETTING for Legacy GPU

What specific Nvidia driver package?

Have you tried in a terminal?

Code: Select all

fixmenus

That should update the menu.

Every Nvidia driver package from them, I have used, has also installed the Nvidia x server settings program.

It should be in menu ->Setup

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

The info statement that is at the top of the Puppy Linux DistroWatch section. Really needs to be generic and not about a specific Puppy version. Your statement seems to be better for the specific info about BookwormPup. If you clicked on the DistroWatch link to specifically BookwormPup. That pops up...

storage media --CD, USB-Stick

Suggest broadening this to include DVD, SSD and HDD.

Thanks

Also SD cards.
I boot from SD card installs on several computers.
As long as computer can boot from a SD card, it works.

If using the setup programs that are in menu ->Setup are not providing the setup changes you need. Your best option is going to be do a remaster with all the programs you want to have in the remaster. That is really the idea of making a remaster. First time you boot it on whatever computer. Setup a ...

The way I see ads is that I will never buy anything through an ad. It is a waste of resources to show me ads. So, you never buy name brand items in a store or online? You never look at the name brand item and think it is better than the no name item? If you ever think the name brand item is...

Have you tried to use the programs that will allow you to select the sound device used? change it from the one that is stored in the save to use. If you use the save on a different computer from the one it was originally made on. The different settings programs should let you change hardware setup. ...

Try adding to the linux line or kernel line of the boot menu entry

Code: Select all

nomodeset=0

That seems to work if you boot to black screen.

Gparted starts scanniing all drives/partitions. How to choose what drive to scan and only it

BookwormPup64 10.0.6 Frugal install using save folder. When Gparted is started it will scan all drives on the computer and all partitions. If you have several drives this can take a long time. In the older versions of Puppy Linux. When you selected to run Gparted a drive selection window would first...

So you want YouTube to have to shutdown, because it has no way to make any money to support it? They have to pay for it somehow! Probably have the wrong sound device selected to use. If these other computers are newer than around year 2019. Xenialpup may not have hardware support for them. Any hardware newer than around 2019 was not around when Xenialpup was built. So hard to support hardware that was not there when Xenialpup...

Re: How start new Palemoon instead of preinstalled version ?

If you get the latest version of Pale Moon the way it says here: https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=112242#p112242 It offers 32 and 64 bit versions from Pale Moon. Tahr and Xenial are Ubuntu based. So the ones for Ubuntu should work. It will just install over the version that is in the dif...

Now you have found the problem with trying to use the same save on a different computer. The setup stored on the save is for the computer it was originally made on. Re: can I use inxi to fetch system information and how to use root#

Puppy is setup as a single user root.

So, when you run Puppy, you are the root user, and can do anything in the file system.
Run any command.

Sudo is not needed.

If you want to run any command in a terminal.
just enter the command.
Press enter.
