Re: Google Drive not good place to store software you want to offer for downloading

Yes, the example links, setup for sharing, work for me too. It seems that this issue is controlled by sharing settings for the software being offered on Google Drive. If I understand it. If you put something on Google Drive and do whatever in settings to mark it as shareable. Then it will ...

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

Sure, you could do that, if this would produce a 100% fully working BookwormPup64 and BookwormPup32. So far, I have never seen a Puppy produced with Woof-CE, get released, and not have some issues or bugs, that needed fixed. Radky's BookwormPup64 is at final release stage and is working good. Plus i...

Something to consider. At the bottom of the main Puppy forum page is a list of who is logged in. One is Baidu Spider. This could be some of the cause of slow display. How to Block Baidu Spider The only reason for blocking Baiduspider is if you aren’t interested in targeting the Chinese market. You w...

Re: BookwormPup: how to prevent suspend when laptop lid closed? (Solved)

The original idea of not letting it suspend if a USB drive is plugged in and running Puppy from it, with the save on the USB. If the save is setup to write to it every few minutes automatically (option in pupmode13). Good chance the save could get corrupted or data lost. What if it goes into suspend...

Re: Can't download within Brave Browser

Any programs that will not run if you are root user (normally who you are when using Puppy Linux) Puppy Linux does not have multiple users. Only root user. So for these programs, you can make them think someone other than root user is running them. Using run-as-spot to start them. To these programs ...

Re: Can't download within Brave Browser

run-as-spot is a special way to run a browser in a restricted way as to where it can download stuff in the Puppy file system. Only download location is /home/spot/Downloads. That cannot be changed as long as it is commanded to run-as-spot. So that is setup and working as it should. After something g...

Google Drive not good place to store software you want to offer for downloading

Google Drive is requiring you to log in, before you can get access to software stored on it. If you do not do this. It will not show anything but it's log in screen. Example: Several people have posted links to software that they stored on Google Drive. If I click on the link. All I get is the Googl...

Re: Slow access times....

The forum is slow to respond.

Takes about 30 sec. to 1 minute to do anything, after clicking on something.

I can see info on the bottom of the browser window showing what it is trying to do.
Each step in connecting and displaying is waiting, stopping, and starting.

If all you are going to use this SSD for is Puppy Linux frugal installs. The 2nd partition should be the rest of the drive formatted ext 3 or 4 Linux formats. The info statement at the top of the DistroWatch Puppy Linux post sure needs to get redone. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=puppy I think it goes all the way back to Puppy v1.0 Also the specific program info is not correct, for some of the listed Puppy versions. Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

Our distros are community based, built from a variety of base systems, and don't really fit into DWs perception of a separate distribution. Yes, well said. That's the reality IMO. Now there is the truth. There is no such thing as one useful/interesting distro discussed/developed via resource of thi...

Puppy Event Manager ->Rox icons has settings that should control this.

If you make any changes, make sure to also select refresh / realign existing icons option, or the changes will not be used, until reboot or restart X server.

Why does anyone think we can only submit, only one specific Puppy version to DistrWatch. No reason 2, 3, 4, or more of the very good recent new versions could not be submitted. Really the reason to call it an official Puppy version, should be about: Built up as a bunch of separate SFS files, how it boots, loads complete OS into RAM, stores changes in a save file/folder, generally operates in specific ways (pupmodes), supports hardware old and new, uses the same core progra...
