Re: Slow access times....

Yes again slow today and I would say worse than yesterday. Again I'm just reporting this. I've read the explanation of the problem so will wait and report when things improve.

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

Well while I've read the stuff about why modern pups have to be produced using a particular recipe following specific rules but I'm not sure how important this is when recommending one to DistrosWatch. If this is going to be the first puppy that new users try surely it should be easy to install, use...

Yes noticed it was very slow to open then slow moving from one topic to another but again seems back to normal today. I thought that it must have been at my end but as others have noticed this then perhaps not.

Re: F96-CE_4 Latest Stable Release

rockedge In KLV the default is no save. Should we change that in F96-CE_4 as well? I don't use KLV but I do use both F96-CE_4 and Bookworm 10.0.6. I would prefer to leave the default in these as is. I probably save about 50% of the time. It is simple to select which you want to do. I think making t...

Re: Intel Microcode 64bit Updates & howto

ozsouth Thanks for your reply and the advice. I would use the ucode modern pups provide as a preference. Yeah, Bookworm 10.0.6 is the latest version of this OS and the version of ucode with it seems to work so I think I will stick with it for the moment as I'm reasonably confident that it's working...

ozsouth I have only just seen this and I don't pretend to understand it. I have ucode.cpio that came with BookwormPup 10.0.6 which is contained in a separate ext4 partition on an hdd. I also have Linux Mint 21.3 installed on this hdd. BookwormPup is booted from the version of grub that came with Li...

Re: BookwormPup 10.0.6 and the loading of ucode.cpio at boot up

Hello one Thanks for your reply. I've just tried adding the missing 1006BookwormPup64 's and it now appears that ucode.cpio is loaded at boot up using the version of 10.0.6 I have on the hdd. Below is the output of running dmesg | grep microcode # dmesg | grep microcode [ 0.000000] microcode: microc...

BookwormPup 10.0.6 and the loading of ucode.cpio at boot up (solved)

I have two versions of 10.0.6, one on a USB drive made with Menu>Setup>Frugal Pup Installers>e4StickPup and the other is a manual frugal install on an ext4 partition on an hdd on a Toshiba L750 laptop. This hdd also contains Mint linux v21.3 on a separate partition. The version of grub in mint linux...

Re: How to add frugal Puppy to boot menu?

oliverjames Can I ask if you are actually seeing your "menuentry" appear on the screen when you boot up. The reason I ask is that I tried some time ago to boot a frugal puppy together with Mint Linux 21.1 using the version of grub in Mint Linux. I was fairly sure that the boot stanza I en...

dancytron Double check you have firmware-realtek installed. Install it if you don't. Below is the output from pFind. I presume the ones that are important are those starting /lib/modules/ and /usr/lib/modules/ . I don't see any that seem to refer to a card reader. I've had a look at your link. Much...
