Re: slacko64-8.0-pre-pre-pre-alpha!
@01micko It's nice that you provide slacko64 8.0 alpha, can you please provide 32-bit version of slacko 8.0? Is gtkdialog included was ported on gtk3? I'll get this close first then porting to 32 bit will be much easier. Developing in parallel is too time consuming, I do have somewhat of a life.. w...

slacko64-8.0-pre-pre-pre-alpha! (and 4 bits?)
Whoa! pre-pre-pre-alpha? (and 4 bits?) How did we go from "and a bit" to "4 bits"? See this post All future alpha beta rc will be released like this (after I test builds locally) See https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/releases Yes, that's right. Older info below (but s...

Try slacko64-6.3.2 It worked on my Acer IconiaTab w500 (egalax kernel driver will load automatically) with the stock kernel. I even got rotation and stuff working and was quite usable except for the weight of the thing! Oh, dug up a wonky video. Just ignore the reflection of that ugly bloke! (this i...

keniv try gyrog 's SAVESPEC facility, Don't download anything as it is all builtin to slacko 7. If your partitions are labeled use the label and if not use the UUID (not PARTUUID). eg: SS_ID='Work' SS_DIR='/tsaves' or SS_ID='0a46752e-9d72-4b19-bd3d-64de3ff539bf' SS_DIR='/tsaves' Where the former us...

New version 6.9.9.12 iso is out. Latest 5.4.77 kernel is in making a delta quite large so no delta. Re: Experimental Slacko64 - eSlacko - UPDATE
Could someone who is booting with supergrub2, please report the contents of '/proc/cmdline' on a Puppy that has been booted with supergrub2. Then I can see exactly what boot parameters it is passing. Obviously it is not specifying "iso_dev=". If we can detect the partition from the boot p...

Re: Experimental Slacko64 - eSlacko - UPDATE
Personal note: To me this update is simply fixing 'init', when I saw that things could be done in a better way. It is not an endorsment of booting iso files. It is a bit fiddly booting the iso files. It doesn't necessarily require linux but is certainly easier to use it with supergrub2. I revised t...

UPDATE to eSlacko64 6.9.9.11
Latest woof-ce init-experiment; (however distro-specs doesn't reflect that because I copied over the old DISTRO_SPECS after ./merge2out). New init changes are in place.
See main post for a delta file to upgrade the original iso.

Re: Experimental Slacko64 - eSlacko
cthisbear welcome to the new normal! I usually have the UUID of the partition in the 'find --set-root' line. The name of the partition also works (if it has a name). Puppy's init has probably changed substantially since dpup-stretch 7.5. If you can possibly use 'frugalpup' (in the menu) to install ...

Experimental Slacko64 - eSlacko - UPDATE (closed)
eSlacko64 is an experimental puppy release to test out some experimental init ideas by gyrog . This is to test out booting from usb/sdcard/mmc to see if waiting for the device is better than waiting for the USB susbsystem. NOTE : new version is released to add gyrog 's improvements to saving with t...

Aha! rt40-5.4.70.png I managed to conjure up a patch. Be warned: I cannot take any responsibility for stability of the patch! With that said it seems to be running ok on my ryzen box. Re: Kernel-kit questions
But you're not enabling the RT features, no? When RT features are enabled, you will see "PREEMPT_RT" when you run uname -a ... yes, oversight in the config.. and when CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y in 5.4.70 compilation fails  It is either a kernel bug or an AUFS bug (the latter for sure) beca...

I have made an alteration to `build.sh` setting the custom_suffix variable after the Makefile is patched in a standard build if the RT patchset (not the mono patch) is detected in /patches. Re: Kernel-kit questions
Nah there is something else wrong methinks... preceding peebee 's mentioned change .. looking into it. There is a wrong variable somewhere that didn't used to be wrong to do with the custom_suffix (which in the OP case would be -rt40 ) EDIT: 10 minutes later: Nope, that is not it. I suspect now that...

Re: 'init' script doesn't always wait appropriately - 'wait4usb' limitations
bionicpup32, and bionicpup64, both failed to find the 'puppy...sfs' after an install using 'init_woof-1.sfs', suggesting nothing really, just that too much has changed in the woof-ce 'initrd.gz' since they were produced. ScPup32, ScPup64, and fossapup64, all worked after 'init_woof-1.sfs' and also ...

Re: How to add an extra-button to Xdialog GUI?
I went through the Xdialog sources and --extra-button was never implemented for --yesno box. The extra button is a patch added by a third party and collected by old murga member amigo . I find it strange that it works in calendar, time, various other text boxes and other box options but not 'yesno' ...
