rockedge Let me take a look at this. It might be the cairo module from python is playing a role. I think you are missing the python-gi-cairo dependency. I found that it works quite well from the taskbar. However it refuses to display the desktop widget. All I get is a transparent box.

Otherwise this is quite an app.
