6.6.25 64bit USRMERGE LOW-LATENCY Kernel Aufs/Overlayfs

I made a 64bit 6.6.25 2018 KIT USRMERGE LOW-LATENCY kernel . Has Overlayfs and Aufs builtin. This has Full Preemption & Frequency at 1000Hz. It is noticeably more responsive than standard kernels. Is for Jammypup64 & Bookwormpup64 (USRMERGE Pups). NOT for fossapup, s15pup & earlier. To u...

@Jasper - ubuntu seem to make their own updates. In a terminal, run: openssl version & look at the date.

@boof - re- ring time. I know 'Belong' (Australia) have a long code to dial in & increase ringtime from 15 to 30 sec. Other providers may have similar. It is possible to get a lanyard phone-holder if that would help.

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

As long as folk are led to understand that the Bookworms are usrmerge & old .pets could be incompatible, I think we should put the Bookworms on DW AND more prominently on puppylinux.com.

I made a 64bit 5.15.155 OVERLAYFS-ONLY 2018-KIT Kernel . Is NON-USRMERGE. Will NOT work with Aufs. Will NOT work with usrmerge Pups like Jammypup/Bookworm Pup, UNLESS these kernel-modules & kernel_sources (& non-usrmerge fdrvs) are run through a converter like this one: viewtopic.php?p=11674...

jamesbond - agreed - open slather will not work for any length of time - would descend into (greater) chaos. So we come back to the standard woof-ce with all it's warts (bad/incomplete additions; insufficient skilled or willing maintainers) which leads to manual finishing, which some are doing. 'Ba...

s15pup is there because we voted on it at the time, peebee came through when something was needed, & nothing has been voted on since.

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

I have had a large number of downloads of Slacko 7.0a (all I did was update the kernel) - the only way folk would be drawn to it is that it is the 2nd offering showing on Distrowatch, after s15pup. I note that our Distrowatch number 1, currently s15pup64-22.12-240413 has had 240 downloads in 7 days ...

I made a 64bit 6.8.7 2018 KIT NON-USRMERGE kernel . Has Overlayfs and Aufs builtin. Has Voluntary Preemption. Re: 6.8.6 64bit LOW-LATENCY NON-USRMERGE Kernel Aufs/Overlayfs

As testing has shown CONFIG_TMPFS_POSIX_ACL=y is necessary, I made a 6.8.7 kernel including it. It is not low-latency. See forum Kernels section.
This kernel, although should not trouble most folk, is withdrawn. I will make a 6.6.28 lolat kernel.

Re: Built and Testing Brand New woof-CE Fossapup64

From what I can see, there is a package to convert Ubuntu 20.04 to usrmerge, but it was not a default until 22.04. Article linked below dated 22/03/2024 refers: https://linux-packages.com/ubuntu-focal ... e/usrmerge

Note: this could possibly have changed as of latest updates.

Marv - I don't have this problem in s15pup64, but it could have serious ramifications - Jasper had issues with re-plugged usbs & ACL failure appears to be related to that. These actions usually originate in /etc/udev/rules.d . I added an extra I2C module to this kernel, hoping to fix it, but se...

@mikewalsh - I made xine packages until a couple of years ago. I liked that it could record tv via my tv-tuner stick. Gxine has a much better interface though & it is libxine that drives them (& some other front ends too).

Re: Xsane hp envy 4520 not detected.

@boof - I always have to install a scan utility (from manufacturer's website), then run xsane.
I know that HP printers have a scan facility onboard, when wirelessly connected - you simply put the printer IP address in your browser.

@SJRouge91 - ok, your wireless chip (from the lspci command) is rtl8822ce. You need a kernel-specific driver, which I can hunt down. Might be tomorrow.
Note: that F96CE4 puppy I suggested earlier has the driver & firmware included. Well worth a try. Could save a lot of messing around.
