5.15.148 64bit USRMERGE Kernel Aufs/Overlayfs

I made a 64bit USRMERGE 5.15.148 Kernel . Is for USRMERGE (newer Ubuntu/Debian derivative) Puppies ONLY. DO NOT TRY THIS WITH SLACKWARE DERIVATIVES OR OLDER UBUNTU DERIVATIVES (IS NOT FOR F96CE OR EARLIER). Used 2018-Kit, & edited output (linking /lib /sbin from /usr), via derivative of jrb's co...

5.15.147 64bit NON-USRMERGE Kernel Aufs/Overlayfs

I made a 64bit 5.15.147 2018 KIT NON-USRMERGE kernel . Has Overlayfs and Aufs builtin. Has Voluntary Preemption. Although this will work on standard older puppies as is, to use it with overlayfs, need a specifc initrd.gz, or (if your puppy is recent, like S15Pup64-22.12) have punionfs=overlay in the...

Re: I can't find a 32 bit ISO that works for my Asus EeeBook

sparky1234 - Welcome to the forums! From your first post, we could work on whichever puppy booted, but didn't connect to wifi. That puppy needs a driver or firmware, which a couple of tests will determine. When booted up, open a terminal (console), maximise it & run: lspci -nn | grep etwork (th...

Re: Barebones CPU temp display pets

mikewalsh - pssct0 's readout should be closest to the mark. pssct1 is really for when that doesn't work. The idea is to give a fair guide, i.e. if you think your cpu is running hot you can basically confirm it. I find my i5 can jump 15C with some webpages & drop back when loaded, using poorert...

Re: 6.7.5 64bit USRMERGE Kernel Aufs/Overlayfs

@Jasper - I put a small script in /root/Startup so it runs every startup (or X restart). Pings google dns server every 45 sec. Should keep connection up, if you're still having issues. Must make it executable (in a terminal, chmod 755 /root/Startup/stayon). Use at own risk.

Re: Barebones CPU temp display pets

@mikewalsh - yes, that's why I said 'could be helpful'! I'd be interested to see what the output of the main script is on your pc. If you run (in terminal): /usr/local/Pup-SysInfo/func -sysinfo_sensors
then look at the contents of: /tmp/sysinfo-sensors
all will be revealed (hopefully!)

Tried the cpu0temp one in BookwormPup64.

It works Ok.

But sure is a very barebones display.
Have to click on menu entry to run it.

Yes. You can make a desktop icon (see edited 1st post).

Barebones CPU temp display pets

Varying systems have different requirements, so maybe either of these CPU temperature displays could be helpful. Use at own risk. You can make a desktop icon. For cpu0temp, when installed, in filemanager go to /usr/share/applications/pssct0.desktop & drag it onto main desktop. (for cpu1temp, use...

Was not able to compile wl in Jammypup32. Code was either too old or 64bit only, despite several attempts.

Re: Wireless card working in earlier Puppy, but not later one.

Those cards need the wl driver, which has to be compiled for the kernel being used. jammypup32 (22.04-240208) is not usrmerge, so my 5.10.189 32bit kernel (in forum Kernels section) has a driver (in forum Drivers section).

Dry Falls - thanks for that. 1 issue - crypsetup is in /sbin - see pic below. ldd says 'not a dynamic executable', whereas /initrd/bin version says 'static', as you said. I note that the initrd version was not installed in previous iterations of this pup, as the lines 1503-1504 didn't do anything. ...
