Re: Browser Appimages - importing bookmarks?

G'day, I'm setting up a new old laptop (Acer Asprire E1-531) and have several 64-bit Pups installed on a Puppy frugals partition (sda3). I'm trying to use appimage or portable browsers from a data partition (sda5) and have a few running (e.g. Brave, Firefox, Librewolf) in Fossas and Slack Pups. When...

lm-sensors (for conky)?

G'day, Is lm-sensors in Bookworm? Terminal shows no sensors and sensors-detect in this Bookworm in a new old laptop (Acer Aspire E1-531). Other Frugals on this laptop are fine with conky and sensors for the coretemp module showing CPU temperatures. If lm-sensors is not in Bookworm, is there a pet-sf...

Re: Swap file causing very slow performance?

G'day, 4GB RAM sounds big enough to not bother with a swap file (I wish my computers had 4GB RAM :( ). Is the Firefox cache set to a suitably small size? Is this cache located outside the Save File area? Say, on a separate partition (e.g. on a sda3 partition for holding such temporary stuff assuming...

Re: How to modify Menus? Gramps deb install no menu entry [Solved]

G'day, A simple thing for a frequently used program is to drag its xxxxx.desktop file to the pinboard/desktop. Go to /usr/share/applications/ with a non-fullscreen Rox, find the gramps.desktop file and drag it to the visible desktop. You could edit the desktop icon text to be just 'gramps' if it ini...

Re: How to configure Grub after partitioning, then installing Linux Mint and Fatdog?(Solved)

G'day superchook, Perhaps you can look at /etc/default/grub (text-file)? When I got lucky with my W10+Mint+Puppies converting of my Acer W10 laptop, this file enabled me to set the number for the default OS on the displayed start-up list ("GRUB_DEFAULT" - was '0' (Mint) but I set it to '4'...

G'day, Thanks mikeslr for pointing me to where I could find out how to boot by default to one of my Puppies at the bottom of the grub list rather than Mint at the top of the grub list displayed on booting. Re: Grub2config replaces Grub4Dos

G'day, Thanks all for your inputs. I see from superchook's helpful example, I should use the particular Mint /etc/ grub config file (the '40' one) for my extra OSs and edit this to point to my several Pups on sda9. I hope my usual tendency to syntax errors and poor assumptions will not stop Mint or ...

Re: Acer E51 Laptop W10 added Mint but not Bionic

G'day, I'm hoping to convert an Acer E-51 laptop with Windows10 to a triple booter. Keeping a reduced Windows10, trying Mint, and then a collection of 64-bit Puppies. 1. G'day Mike,

Perhaps some examples of complete .desktops for different catagories? Ones for tricky situations that Puppians have encountered (and solved)?

And I've had many a whine about wine menus. So an example or two for common wine apps.

G'day LLiam53, I don't think it will work as you want - the Full set-up is quite different to a Frugal in terms of using your own personalisations (e.g. added software) as well as Puppy's file structure, but you could install the Frugal to the same partition as your existing Full, so they are togeth...
