Re: 10wt3ch and his latest distro?
It appears he is not on the forum member list anymore.
I downloaded his latest iso audio distro, but I was looking for the topic again and can't find it now.
Anyone have info on locating it/him?
It appears you have the name wrong, it's lowercase L.

Barry,
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Thankfully it was a BCC and not a more serious cancer. Such incredible complexity required to complete the removal.

Re: WARNING! Some errors detected. Pupmtp. pup save.
Then I made a sript:
#!/bin/bash
Pupmtp
Saved to /bin/pupmtp
Made a link to desktop
This is all duplication, pupmtp is a script in /usr/sbin which has an existing desktop file pupmtp.desktop in /usr/share/applications . You don't need to create an additional script, just place a link to ...

Re: Script to Install to PC
The installer did not install the ucode.cpio file that is also needed in the install.
Most newer, newest versions of Puppy now have this ucode.cpio file in the ISO.
It is used in the boot process, to update the kernel, with latest changes in support for the CPU being used.
some of the boot ...

I'd just downloaded/updated prior to fr-ke reporting the issue. Just now seeing that a reload was necessary. In between I've been out moving another foot (30 cm) of snow. All seemd good. Oh well, just need to download and replace the puppy_*.sfs.

Re: Large file in chromium config directory is making very large snapshot rw.sfs
I've been running Chromium with "--disable-file-system" for a couple of days, with no ill effects.
The content of that "File System" folder has stayed at 28KB.
I've just been doing the usual things; forum, bank account, gmail, youtube, it all works as before.
Note, in my case "File System ...

Re: Large file in chromium config directory is making very large snapshot rw.sfs
Since I did the cleanup, i didn't disable File System. I am just monitoring the space used. Currently it is only taking up 56 K, it hasn't filled up again. The file 00000000 hasn't returned and doesn't appear to have been replaced with something else.

Re: Running Bookworm on SSD
I recommend method 2, as you do not need to run the host Linux OS to update GRUB.
Agreed. I should have been clearer on that. There is no need to run the update grub command.
Also just saw I made an error in option 2. I wrote boot.cfg instead of grub.cfg. Thanks also for the added details ...

Re: Large file in chromium config directory is making very large snapshot rw.sfs
@TerryH
I don't use chromium very often, but my first thought is this is probably some sort of "cache", related possibly to prefetch etc . that is supposed to speed up loading of frequently visited sites. You may be able to control how much space is used by checking in the settings of chromium ...

Dear dimkr
I gave it another try and is still find it very cumbersome if you want to do anything "linuxy", other than browse the web or see a movie listen to music etc.
Anyway is there a way to change the pkexec password that you need to type all the time to do anything else?
I did setup and ...

Re: Experiment of BookwormPup64 running as a Pseudo Full Install
It makes maintenance of backups more critical, as if you do something that corrupts, your whole system is gone.
Thats a good point Terry. I guess learning how to make sfs's to load when needed would be more useful.
I'd hate to be doing it on any slower drives.

I could definitely see myself using this method, because one of the first things I do with a KL is build a new appication

Does this puedo ...

Re: Mistakes in GUI backup, please fix (Pupsave Backup)
When at the compress Y/N dialog, does anyone else think it odd that even if you right click the icon in the taskbar and choose "kill" the window, it has no effect on the procedure? Kill usually means kill, right?
It's not odd at all. How can you kill something after it has completed. The ...
