Re: BookwormPup64 10.0.7

Installation of a browser .deb package or through apt should trigger auto-setup-spot, which should auto-configure it to run as spot without you having to do anyhing. Maybe it's disabled or broken in BookwormPup64? EDIT: yep, apt update && apt install chromium in a clean 10.0.7 installation installs ...

d-pupp By default - no. This is a good place to hide malware: for example, an executable with the same name as your browser. IMO users that want to place executables in their home directory rather than /usr/bin, /usr/sbin, etc' should configure things themselves. I prefer not to risk users that don ...

Re: What issues with NoblePup need to be resolved?

Updating package versions beyond those in Ubuntu 24.04 might be a bad idea, for 3 reasons. First, Ubuntu 24.04 packages that depend on Python expect the version shipped in 24.04 and updating it can break them. Second, Canonical backports security updates to old package versions (the update is ...

Why add a new directory instead of using the standard ~/.local/bin?

Re: Puppy Linux Security Questions!

I was told that Puppy was considered safe, even though the user has root privileges by default. Considered safe by who - by the person who told you it's safe? Safety is not boolean, it's a scale between 0 (guaranteed dangerous event) and 1 (complete safety). Some people consider 20% chance of their ...

Re: Which Linux for dual core processor?

Go with a 64 bit Puppy because it will give you more variety of software you can install, less issues and better performance at the cost of slightly increased RAM consumption and a bit of extra disk space. The savings from using a 32 bit Puppy held together with duct tape are simply not worth it ...

Building 11.0.173 right now. If the build succeeds and you update to this version - watch out for boot failures, especially if you haven't set pupsfs= and psave= . Re: ROX and Xfe show different "Directory Size"

Maybe the difference can be also explained by sparse files. Sometimes, a big file with big regions full of 0 will become a sparse file, it depends on how the file was created, enlarged or copied. Some file managers show the "apparent size" (i.e. 4 GB if it's a 4 GB file full of 0 bytes) while some ...

Could it be that Ventoy is causing the problem? What could I use in Linux to run an iso on a computer instead of Ventoy to see how it reacts? 11.0.170 will:
1. Bump the kernel to 6.10.x
2. Add a save/no save prompt to pupsave, when creating a save under PUPMODE 5: it will save the current system state (you'll need to reboot to start using the created save; no save/no save prompt at shutdown)

So if you specify psubdir you can not have the savefolder anywhere else, as it can be done with Bookwoem, 10.x etc?

Right now - if you use psubdir, everything (SFSs and saves) must be under psubdir (not necessarily in the same partition).
