@Chelsea80

Would it be safe to now delete cp-profile.sh.gz and ff108_patch.pet?

Sure, you can always get them again on the forum.

Re: Friendly-Bionic32 v1.0

Chelsea80 There's no real simple way to fix the no Firefox audio problem, but this will do most of it. -run Firefox and backup any bookmarks you've saved. -close Firefox -install: ff108_patch.pet -run: cp-profile.sh (be sure it's executable) Restart Firefox and test the audio. You'll have to redo a...

Chelsea80 No audio from Boom Radio, a UK radio station (https://www.boomradiouk.com/) No audio from YouTube. Have no knowledge on Boom Radio, you might try posting in the User section to see if anyone else can help. Found the issue on Youtube audio and should have a fix in a day or so. Thanks wizard

Jasper Per my first post, the test are on a Intel mb, PCIe v1.0a from 2007. It's MBR only, so that's the lowest spec board. also tested: Dell 7010, 2012, PCIe v2 HP 5810, 2015, PCIe v1.0a Clarity adapter is in x16 slot. Nope, just wondering if you are using a NVME drive installed in a PCIe adapter and if so can you boot from it?

Re: Adding NVME drive to old desktops

mikewalsh I doubt modern nVME drives would be able to reach their full potential in such an arrangement. Yep, but looking at the test data, you can wind up with a really fast storage drive, a real plus if you're moving lots of data around or have a file server streaming content. Just another option...

bigpup Have tried the NVME adapter in 3 old computers, Intel, Dell & HP. BW64, F96, F95 and Bionic32, all of them: -show desktop icons -identify the drive as NVME -mount/unmount -Rox works normally None of these identifiy the drive as bootable. Currently looking at workarounds for that. Thanks ...

Adding NVME drive to old desktops

Recently while working on grub2config issues I realized none of my old computers had a NVME drive. This slowed the analysis and debugging process way down since I needed others to test code changes. Since buying a newer computer with a NVME drive was not in my computer budget, I opted to purchase a ...

Re: How to remove live Puppy Linux access to hard disks?

@Flash

Would it work if the /mnt directory were removed? Just thinking in the dark. :lol:

Pretty good thought for in the dark and it is one of several things you can do to obfuscate and deny access to other drives, just depends on how hard you want to lock it down.

Re: Remaster using remasterme2

Clarity The remasterpup2 program writes to whatever work area you choose, but remasterme2.sh has no way to know that choice. That is why you must choose the partition you boot from as the work area, which means remasterpup2 will create it's work area in /mnt/home. Have not tried remastering from Ve...

Re: How to remove live Puppy Linux access to hard disks?

The answer is yes, but you need to better define "provide a secure platform" since there are different degrees.

Additionally, when you first boot Puppy, the drive icons will appear on the desktop, but only your boot partition is mounted by default.

Remaster using remasterme2

Remastering Puppy with remasterme2.sh Remastering is a Puppy feature that allows you to build all your added apps and customization into a new main Puppy .sfs file and/or ISO file. A Remaster can be a way to archive, distribute or increase security of a customized Puppy, Remasterme was first introdu...

Re: Balena Etcher won't install my remaster

Balena Etcher is the wrong tool and is not recommended. Using it with Puppy ISO's is hit and miss, mostly miss. You will have better success with Rufus or Unetbootin.

What method did you use to do the remaster?

Re: How to prevent rox from opening when mounting a drive?

dellus One more option is to use MOUNT_drv. MOUNT_drv is a modified Pmount that mounts without opening Rox. You can put MOUNT_drv anywhere (I keep mine in /root/my-applications/bin) then put a symlink on the desktop or even in the JWM tray. In use you click MOUNT_drv, then choose the drive to mount...

Check here for Ventoyl:

viewtopic.php?p=38449#p38449

You say you would install them, do you mean to a directory and frugal.

This is really use dependent. If you just want to try out, do Ventoy, if you want to run and have persistence, do installs.

That VLC pet was only tested for running media files on the local computer/network. You might try running it from a terminal to see if it is missing some dependencies required for streaming.

Look in the help files, Firefox.

Also, are thinking of bringing out a version 2 of Friendly-Bionic32?

Won't do a v2 until there are enough significant changes to make.
