Re: Icons gone missing from tray after JWM mod (SOLVED)

Thanks, bigpup. Rebooting had no effect so started checking the .jwmrc-tray and .jwmrc files line by line. Apparently, when I edited the template file,in /etc/xdg/templates, an extraneous "#" got typed into the file. Once I removed the "#", ran fixmenus and restarted the window m...

Icons gone missing from tray after JWM mod(SOLVED)

This is embarrassing! I am setting up a new install of Fossapup64. From the responses to a previous post of mine, I leaned about JWM Desktop overwriting changes to .jwmrc-tray. To circumvent this, I created a new file .jwmrc-tray-2 and included it in the template file for .jwmrc in place of the orig...

Re: Trays "deleted" by JWM Desk Manager?[SOLVED]

This worked for me: by MochiMoppel » Thu Oct 01, 2020 11:20 pm I think the cleanest solution is to change /etc/xdg/templates/_root_.jwmrc Adapt <Include>/root/.jwmrc-tray</Include> so that it includes your customized and renamed file (e.g. jwmrc-grey :) ). Then run fixmenus and jwm -restart. The JWM...

You are correct. I had missed that thread (which got off topic and kind of ugly). The last couple post look like a solution though.

Trays "deleted" by JWM Desk Manager?(SOLVED)

I edited .jwmrc-tray to add a tray at the top of the desktop. When I had gotten it looking like I wanted, I restarted JWM then I opened JWM Desk Manager to change the icon layout. I selected "Bare-No Desktop Icons" thinking this would remove all of the icons but leave the two trays. It did...

Re: Removed "wrong" builtin package

I was able to fix it by rebooting then re-installing wayland and its libraries. This probably is not the "best" way to fix the issue, but it does appear to have worked.

I accidentally removed "wayland" using the "Remove Builtin Packages" app in BionicPup64 (frugal install on hard drive) is there any way to gracefully recover from this stupidity?

Re: LibreWolf AppImage 64-bit Only: Privacy Hardened Firefox

My interest in trying librewolf is less from a security viewpoint than my annoyance with Mozilla. It seems tha Firefox constantly nags me to update to the latest version (if I do update, it only takes a short while before they issue another version and start nagging again). I used to be able to stop...

the fact that Manjaro is on top perhaps also speeks to some linux community backlush against some of the bloat that distros like ubuntu are known for. Problem wth pinboard after changing background

I have been using Puppy for a long time (I think I started with Puppy 3.xx, but really got into it with 4.2.1). I obviously am not as knowledgeable about how it works as I should be. Two things in particular: 1. Pinboard - Until recently I had not encountered any "pinboard" issues. A few d...

Thank you for all the insight about LFS. Sounds like it is worth the effort. Like you, I have strong feelings about systemd. I wouldn't mind if it stuck to being an init system, but it is taking over way too much of the OS.

How do you like LFS so far? I've thought about giving it a try.
