Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...? SOLVED
Use Asunder to rip the CD into .wav and/or .mp3 . That statement is not only MISLEADING but it's WRONG. Fact is that Asunder can rip using many codecs not only to .wav and/or .mp3. In fact the default is ripping to .ogg format which the user actually used. As far as your remaster suite is concerned ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
You should correct your original post where the misinformation first appeared. No, it's educational. It was discussed further on in the thread and then rectified during discussion. Cheers. At least it's a mess. If you're a good guy, you should at least include a hint, about it was wrongly stated ...

SOLVED Hello kennel mates, As I sit here writing to you amidst the smoke from the USA west coast forest fires, I am pleasantly listening to lovely, calming music on my old beat-up HP computer with the good sound. I did as was originally suggested by @ taersh , and later by @ mikewalsh . I used ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
Anyone who claims that you can convert an audio CD into an ISO file needs to do it themselves , then report how they did it. Well it seems you have a reading problem. I made a bona fide mistake by claiming one can copy an audio cd to an ISO. After testing it myself, I realised my mistake and ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
Well, I don't know. This thread has been a classic case of misdirection from the get-go. I thought the idea was to help other community members with their problems, not go off on a wild goose chase discussing the pros & cons of very esoteric methods of doing stuff that would ONLY appeal to a ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
Audio CD's can't be copied as iso's but data cd's abviously can. Still, as mentioned audio cd's can be copied to two files as mentioned and later burnt to another CD. Still useful as an exact copy of the original I think (especially if the original cd is not yours).

Re: "Cloning" a Puppy install to a larger USB drive
Thanks bigpup, sounds straightforward with no nasty gotchas. Explain? Well, I was new to Puppy and didn't want to save things that I might not be able to recover if the drive stopped booting. I've since learned that sfs and 2fs are compression formats that can be extracted with widely available ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
Checked and the cd image can't be copied to an ISO. I was able to copy the CD image to one .bin and one .cue file with another burner application but the contents can't be played from those files with a media player it seems. So, ripping the tracks from cd to audio files seem to be the best option ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
An audio cd is actually an iso burnt to CD. It contains the playing tracks (songs) in .wav format. From what i read over the last half hour or so this does not sound correct. Aren't the tracks stored as cddao "tracks" - or even as some people say just as one raw cddao track with silent spaces ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
I reckon the copy audio cd is easier. Once you have transferred the image to the other machine you can of course deal with the iso as you please. I will always use a GUI application if available but that's just me (and most other general users, I think).

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
At the risk of muddying the waters... it seems that many people say it is impossible to create an .iso from an audio CD. Some suggest instead you may use either of the following commands to create a toc and/or cue file that is similar to iso but not an iso: # cdda2wav #readcd #readom but getting ...

"If a CD can contain an iso of audio tracks i am interested to experiment."

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
@nic007 - as an alternative to using vlc to read the iso on the second machine do you think it is possible to transfer the iso to the second machine via the usb stick then rip it to wavs on the second machine? (If sky does not have vlc available...) Why should he want to do this, when he can rip ...

Re: Can music from a CD be transfered to a flash drive? or ...?
To keep it in its original form and quality, you can save/copy the contents of the CD as an ISO file with a cd burner (like Pburn). VLC can play the ISO file.

Re: Looking for an OS for 128 MB of RAM. Is this article accurate?
I just did a quick check using stock bionicpup64-8.0. 1. Boot up to graphical interface & run free in terminal, which uses about 22mb - 137mb used. 2. Boot up to graphical interface & then ctrl-alt-bkspc to exit X, run free - 87mb used. It's all sitting as cached. What is reported as FREE compared ...

Re: Looking for an OS for 128 MB of RAM. Is this article accurate?
IIRC, jamesbond was able to boot dpup-stretch to desktop using only 68 Mbs RAM, employing a 256 Mb Swap and the boot argument "no-copy". On a Asus 701SD with only 418 Mbs RAM and a 377 Mb Swap, I was able to boot a slightly stripped BusterPup 32-bit to desktop using only 88 Mbs of RAM without ...

Thanks mate, but how much RAM does the OS take to use though? I basically want to know how much extra RAM I'd have on top of what is used for the OS itself that will be freed up using this OS for certain things. Because I am getting different answers in my searches. ;) It depends on your boot ...

You can easily run the newest Puppys with that specs. I can run the newest 64-bit Puppy on my 2GB ram laptop which is 15 years old.

Re: Is this article accurate?
You will have to go back to a very old Puppy 32-bit if you only have 128MB RAM (Pup431 or maybe Wary Puppy if you are lucky) probably. That article also states that the Puppy ISO is around 100MB. That's way off the size of the new Puppys.

Dealing with websites with multiple popup windows
We all know these sites which spawn multiple popup advertisement tabs/screens (many leading to undesirable sites). Even with a very good popup killer this could still occur. The other thing is that in many cases these sites are so constructed that at least one popup is required otherwise you are ...
